Implantology in Essen
Before implant placement, the available bone in the target area is assessed. If there is insufficient bone substance for the planned restoration, bone augmentation may be considered as part of the treatment plan.
Incorporating bone availability into implant planning
Whether bone augmentation is planned depends on the individual situation and the implant site. 3D X-ray diagnostics can be used to assess the available bone volume and relevant anatomical structures for planning purposes.
Different procedures
Depending on the region and clinical findings, options may include a sinus lift, nasal floor elevation, widening or heightening of the jawbone, or onlay osteoplasty using autogenous bone (the patient’s own bone).
The specific method suitable for an individual case is determined only after diagnostics have been performed.
Timing within the treatment process
The augmentation material can be placed either before or during the implant procedure. A separate appointment may be scheduled for more extensive augmentations or when multiple implants are planned.
Further details are provided on the pages 3D Implant Planning and Dental Implants.
