Veneers in Essen

Veneers in Essen

Veneers are thin shells permanently attached to the visible surface of a tooth. They can change the shape, proportions or colour of selected teeth. Careful assessment of tooth structure, gums, bite and suitable alternatives is essential.

Your first contact is a free telephone consultation. A trained member of our practice team discusses your concerns, further costs and next steps; a dentist is involved for specialist questions. A personal examination is a separate appointment arranged with you.

When veneers may be an option

Veneers may be considered, for example, for certain shape irregularities, small gaps, discolouration or wear. Their suitability depends on the clinical findings, remaining tooth structure, bite and expectations for the result.

Preserving tooth structure does not always mean no preparation

Depending on tooth position and the desired change, very little preparation, more extensive preparation or, in selected cases, no preparation may be needed. A general promise of “no-prep” treatment before examining your teeth would not be responsible.

Before altering healthy tooth structure, we compare options including whitening, orthodontic correction, direct composite restorations or choosing to leave the situation as it is.

Planning veneers: process, preview and costs

Photographs, scans, models or digital visualisations can help us discuss shape and proportions together. A preview supports communication and is not a guarantee of an exact result.

After preparation, the veneers are made to fit, checked and adhesively attached. The specific process depends on the number, material and starting situation.

Necessary preliminary treatments, for example for caries or gum inflammation, can add further stages. A fixed number of appointments therefore cannot be stated for everyone.

Veneer costs depend on factors including the number and material, the dentist’s work, individual fabrication and any laboratory costs, as well as possible preliminary treatment. What matters is not only a price per tooth, but which services the complete plan includes. Ask also about potential later costs for check-ups, repair or replacement. Before you decide, we discuss the planned scope and expected costs.

Care and loading influence lifespan

Veneers need regular check-ups and good oral hygiene. Additional protection may be useful with strong clenching or grinding. Their lifespan and appearance over time depend on several individual factors.

Ceramic veneers or direct composite restorations?

At diadentis, we offer ceramic veneers and direct aesthetic composite restorations. The latter are also called composite veneers when they reshape the visible surface of a tooth. Which option is appropriate for your clinical findings is clarified during your personal consultation.

No material has a guaranteed lifespan. The starting findings, extent of treatment, clenching or grinding and care are among the factors influencing the result. General information: American Dental Association: ceramic and composite.

Worn incisal edges: assess function too

Before a purely aesthetic change, we assess tooth position, bite and loading. If you have symptoms, a TMD and functional examination may be appropriate. For misaligned teeth, aligners for adults can be an alternative or a preparatory step. This does not promise that correcting tooth position will stop grinding.

Frequently asked questions about veneers.

Do teeth have to be prepared for veneers?

That depends on tooth position, remaining structure and the desired change. In selected situations, treatment is possible with no or very little preparation; in others, preparation is necessary.

Can veneers be reversed?

If tooth structure has been prepared, the treatment is generally not fully reversible. We expressly discuss this before any decision.

What influences the costs of veneers?

The number of teeth, material, planning, the dentist’s and dental technician’s work, and any preliminary treatments determine the scope. The individual cost plan is discussed before you decide.

Before-and-after images do not promise an individual result and are used only when rights and legal permissibility have been clarified.
